I’'ve seen a number of folks refering to “balance issues” I’m curious how everyone compenstaes or deals with those issues

My 73 year old Dad has had balance issues for about 8 years or so now. He at first used a cane, but as his thighs / legs / hips have weakened he was using a walker. Now and for numberous years he hasn’t been able to stand from sitting position, so he uses a electric stand up recliner in order to be able to stand. If he falls they have to call in fire / paramedic to help him up. He barely can make it down the hall from living room to bedroom at this point.
I myself am 48 and so far don’t have balance issues.

I was just diagnosed and one of my main symptoms was lose of balance. I have weakening of my thighs and calves and upper arms.
The way that I combat it now is to use a cane. I also have installed some handrails in the bath area. My Father had the same issues as myself and used a cane around the home and wheelchair when he went out. Hope this helps… Kay
